Info
Drive to the west part of the island to the picturesque Paleokastritsa where we will visit Virgin’s Mary monastery. The monastery was founded in the 13th century, but there is little to been seen today which is more than 200 years old. Inside however, the modern building is an excellent example of Greek monastic architecture. There is an arched inner courtyard, and a small museum with Byzantine and post-Byzantine icons. The view from the Monastery is superb, with in the foreground the boat of Odysseus (Kolovri).
We continue our drive to Corfu town where we will have a walking tour in the square and into the narrow roads. We will see the old fortress, the Esplanade with the cricket field, the Palace, the Old town hall and the square with their unique atmosphere.
